The Department of Mathematics at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib ,hosted a one-day event, 'Teej Fest 2024,' celebrating the vibrant cultural heritage of Punjab. The event, held with great enthusiasm and participation, showcased the rich traditions and artistic talents of the students.The festival featured a range of traditional activities and competitions, including Punjabi Handicrafts, Accessory Making, Parandi Making, Mehandi Competition, Folk Singing (Group & Solo), Folk Dance (Group & Solo) and Miss Teej Title. The winner of the Miss Teej competition was Navjot Kaur, who claimed the title, followed by Sukhmanpreet Kaur as the 1st Runner-Up, and Anmolpreet Kaur as the 2nd Runner-Up.The event was convened by Dr. Richa Brar, Head, Department of Mathematics whose dedicated efforts ensured its success. 'Teej Fest 2024' was a resounding success, bringing together students and faculty in a joyful celebration of Punjab’s rich cultural legacy. The event not only provided a platform for students to showcase their talents but also reinforced the university’s commitment to preserving and promoting cultural traditions.
The Chief Guest Dean Academic Affairs, Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Billing and the guest of honour Dean Student's Welfare, Dr. Sikandar Singh graced the occasion with their presence. In their inspiring addresses, they motivated the students to actively participate in such cultural events, emphasizing the importance of staying connected to their roots while excelling in their academic pursuits. In the end, Dr. Richa Brar expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Prit Pal Singh, for his unwavering support and continuous inspiration, which played a pivotal role in the success of the event. She also extended her thanks to all the guests for their presence and offered special appreciation to the faculty members of the Department for their dedicated efforts in organizing the entire fest.
