AWARENESS ABOUT ANTI-RAGGING AT SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB WORLD UNIVERSITY

The University School of Law, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organized an awareness event on Anti-Ragging in collaboration with Dean Student Welfare. The event was organized on the theme - Respect, Integrity, Unity – together for a ragging free campus, in confirmation with the UGC guidelines to raise awareness against ragging and create a ragging free environment in campus. 
Prof. Prit Pal Singh, the Vice Chancellor of the University expressed that ragging poses a significant threat to the well-being and academic success of students and undermines the fundamental principles on Anti-Ragging issues. He further extended that the root causes of ragging requires a comprehensive approach that included education and awareness raising initiatives.  
The students were also guided about the anti-ragging rules in the University by Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs. He deliberated on the zero- tolerance policy against ragging and encouraged students to create a friendly environment for newly admitted students. Prof. (Dr.) Sikander Singh, Dean Student Welfare, discussed about the Internal Complaint Committee in the University which facilitates the students to report any incidents of Ragging in the University Campus. To encourage the student’s participation, various events were conducted on the theme of Anti-Ragging like Essay writing, Debate competition, Slogan Writing, Poster making and the students’ bagged prizes. Harleen Kaur and Sukhmani Kaur got 1st and 2nd position in Essay writing respectively. In Debate competition, Jasmeen and Loveleen Kaur got 1st position and Sahil Dutta and Jaspreet Singh got 2nd position. Similarly, in Slogan Writing Simranjot Kaur and Kamalpreet Kaur got 1st and 2nd position respectively. In Poster making, Gulpreet Kaur and Loveleen Kaur got 1st position and Deepeshwari got 2nd position.
Dr. Navneet Kaur, the Department In-charge discussed with students about the various legal provisions relating to Anti-Ragging Laws and its strict implementation within the department itself to avoid any incidents of Ragging. Amritpal Singh and Rajandeep Kaur organized the entire event ensuring successful endeavor to create awareness about Anti-Ragging.
