Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University celebrated  its 17th Foundation Day

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, celebrated its 17th Foundation Day with much fervour and enthusiasm.  The event commenced with the bhog of Sri Sehaj Paath, followed by shabad Kirtan by the Universitystudents. Connecting the students with the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Dr. Hardev Singh, Head of the Department of Religious Studies, motivated the students to adopt Guru Granth Sahib Ji's message in their life. The member of the University syndicate  Jagbir Singh Sokhi in his address expressed hope that in the coming years, this University will excel not only in the field of education but also in instilling Sikh principles in the new generation. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Prit Pal Singh congratulated the students and the staff members for the successful completion of sixteen years of the University foundation. Highlighting the achievements of the 2023-24 academic year, he shared that the students and the staff have excelled in various fields with dedication and hard work. He noted that while the students have made significant academic accomplishments, they have also brought recognition to the university in sports and cultural activities. 
Prof. Ajaib Singh Brar,  the Pro-Chancellor of the University praised the University officials, teaching, and non-teaching staff, and expressed his pride in the university's ability to establish a distinct position in the academic and co-curricular domains in a short span of time. He emphasised the importance of the University in contributing world peace and prosperity. He said that maintaining peace and harmony is the biggest duty of the education system.  He acknowledged the University teachers' unwavering commitment to maintaining the quality of education, which has resulted in a significant increase in admissions this year. Prof. Sukhwinder Singh Billing,  Dean Academic Affairs of the University expressed his gratitude to the University authorities and thanked the entire congregation for joining the celebrations.  He reaffirmed the University's commitment to fostering a knowledge-driven society based on values, stating that all faculty and staff members are continuously striving towards this important goal.
On this occasion, Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar, former President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Jagdeep Singh Cheema, Senior Akali Leader, Advocate Amardeep Singh Dharni, Surinderpal Singh Kishanpura, former Principal SGPC Dr. Paramjit Kaur Tiwana, Principal Lakhvir Singh of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Gurdeep Singh Kang, Manager of Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, Surjit Singh Garhi, and Avtar Singh Ria, Members of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Head of various departments along with other distinguished guests, were present. Dr. Sikander Singh, Dean  Students' Welfare hosted the stage.
The event concluded with performance of the University’s Gatka team.
