Chandigarh, October 1
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly condemned the recent altercation involving Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa with officials at the Gurdaspur DC office.
AAP Punjab leader and senior spokesperson Neel Garg stated that the behavior of the Congress leaders in threatening the officials reflects their desperation as they face poor election prospects. He emphasized that these individuals, despite being out of power, are still resorting to intimidation tactics. “What would they have done if they were in power?” he questioned.
Garg further noted that during the Congress government's tenure, they often won local body elections through threats and hooliganism. “The people of Punjab are well aware of their antics,” he asserted. He urged Pratap Bajwa to refrain from obstructing the electoral process and to allow officials to perform their duties, stating that such behavior does not befit elected representatives.
He also clarified that no coercion is occurring in the nomination process, with all candidates having ample opportunity to file their papers and gather necessary documentation.
