Chandigarh, October 3
Reacting to the meeting between Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar and the BJP's central leadership, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson Neel Garg stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have consistently held an unfavorable attitude toward Punjab.
Garg emphasized that the BJP leadership has been working against the interests of Punjab, attempting to weaken the state politically, culturally, and economically. He pointed out that Punjab's tableau was excluded from the January 26 parade, and the central government has withheld the Rural Development Fund (RDF), negatively impacting development projects in the state. Furthermore, he criticized the forced implementation of the black agricultural laws, which aimed to weaken Punjab's farmers.
Neel Garg noted that according to some media reports Sunil Jakhar has highlighted these issues to the BJP's central leadership, asserting that a change in attitude is essential for the party's success in Punjab. Garg also urged the BJP leadership to reconsider its approach and to stop financially undermining Punjab and release all withheld state funds immediately.
