The Ramanujan Mathematics Club, Department of Mathematics at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organised a One Day Seminar on “Applications of Mathematics” in celebration of National Mathematics Day. The event aimed to enhance students' and faculty members' understanding of Mathematics and its real-world applications.The event commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, who, in his inaugural address, emphasized the profound significance of Mathematics across various disciplines. He highlighted the role of such lectures in fostering academic excellence and intellectual curiosity.
The keynote speaker for the event was Dr. V.K. Kukreja, Professor of Mathematics at S.L.I.E.T, Longowal. Dr. Kukreja delivered an engaging and thought-provoking lecture, shedding light on the vast applications of Mathematics in different fields. His lecture covered diverse topics, including mathematical modeling in engineering, statistical applications in social sciences, and real-world problem-solving using mathematical techniques. His ability to present complex mathematical concepts in an accessible manner captivated the audience and deepened their appreciation of the subject.Following the lecture, an interactive session allowed students and faculty members to engage in discussions with Dr. Kukreja. His insightful responses to their queries further enriched their understanding and stimulated intellectual curiosity. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Richa Brar, Head, Department of Mathematics. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kukreja for his invaluable contribution and acknowledged the enthusiasm of the participants. Dr. Brar reiterated the importance of such academic initiatives in inspiring students and faculty members to explore Mathematics beyond textbooks.
