Desh Bhagat University Celebrates National Pharmacy Education Day with a Focus on Innovation and Startups

 

The Placebo Club, Faculty of Pharmacy, Desh Bhagat University, came together to celebrate “National Pharmacy Education Day” on the theme of ‘Entrepreneurship & Startups in Pharma and Pharmacy Practice: Encouraging Innovation, Incubation Centers and Pharmaceutical Startups’. The event marked the 121st birth anniversary of Professor Mahadeva Lal Schroff, a pioneer in pharmacy education in India, recognizing his contributions to the establishment of pharmacy education in the country.The primary objective of the event was to foster innovation, incubation, and pharmaceutical startups. To commemorate the occasion, students and faculty members from the School of Pharmacy, S. Lal Singh Memorial College of Pharmacy, and Mata Jarnail K College of Pharmacy actively participated in various activities related to entrepreneurship and startups in the pharmaceutical sector. These activities included the Pharma Shark Tank and the Pharmaceutical Product Innovation Challenge, both of which aimed at encouraging innovation and entrepreneurial skills among students.The event was inaugurated by Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University and Pro-Chancellor, Dr. Tejinder Kaur, while the welcome address was delivered by Dr. Puja Gulati, Principal of the School of Pharmacy. She extended a warm welcome to the chief guest, Dr. Zora Singh, and the guest of honor, MK Bhatia, Chairman of Mits Group of Companies. The event also featured expert talks by distinguished professionals, including Prof. (Dr.) Richa Shree from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Research, Punjabi University Patiala; Diwakar Sharma, Senior Executive (Granulation) at Cipla Pharmaceuticals, Baddi, Himachal Pradesh; and MK Bhatia, Chairman of Mits Group of Companies.The experts provided valuable insights into fostering innovation in pharma and pharmacy practice, an overview of pharmaceutical startups, and the significance of innovation hubs and incubation centers. They also discussed the essential qualities and expertise required for pharma entrepreneurs, offering guidance and inspiration to aspiring students looking to venture into the pharmaceutical business landscape.
