On the occasion of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's birth anniversary, Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond paid floral tribute at the statue of Dr. Ambedkar at the District Administrative Complex. He also attended a seminar as the chief guest organized at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, on this occasion.Accompanying him were Advocate Lakhbir Singh Rai, MLA from Fatehgarh Sahib constituency, and Rupinder Singh Happy, MLA from Bassi Pathana constituency. The Cabinet Minister stated that
AAP government is realising the dream of Baba Saheb. There are 06 SC ministers in the cabinet. First time ever the reservation has been implemented in AG office and students are smoothly availing the benefits of SC scholarship. The Cabinet Minister said that Dr. Ambedkar was not just an individual but a vision, a movement, and a mission. He dedicated his life to social equality, justice, and the right to education. The Constitution drafted under his leadership is not only the foundation of democracy but also a document that protects the rights of every citizen.Minister Sond emphasized that following the path shown by Dr. Ambedkar is the only way to build a capable, educated, and equality-based India. Dr. Ambedkar's ideology continues to inspire today’s youth. He also mentioned that the government is continuously making efforts for public welfare following the ideals of Dr. Ambedkar. He highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government has mandated the installation of portraits of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in all government offices. He said that education is the one thing that distinguishes humans from other species, and through literacy and knowledge, one can become a great personality like Dr. Ambedkar. Dr. Ambedkar, through immense education, worked for the betterment of society.Minister Sond pointed out that after overcoming many challenges, reservation rights were attained, from which millions of people are benefitting today. He noted that a large number of students are benefiting from the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme. Due to the development of government schools, over 15,000 students have migrated from private schools to government schools.During the event, Advocate Lakhbir Singh Rai and Rupinder Singh Happy stated that Dr. Ambedkar made a great contribution to the nation's welfare, and his thinking continues to guide society towards progress. They emphasized that Dr. Ambedkar believed the progress of a society could be gauged by the progress of its women, and this continues to inspire efforts for women's development. They added that education is a powerful tool, and the more knowledge a person acquires, the more opportunities open up for them. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sona Thind formally welcomed the guests, and Vice Chancellor Dr. Pritpal Singh extended a formal vote of thanks. During the seminar, students benefiting from the Post Matric Scholarship shared their experiences and expressed gratitude towards the Punjab government. Beneficiaries of the Ashirwad Scheme were also handed sanction letters related to the scheme. On this occasion, the district administration and university honored the Cabinet Minister, and the Deputy Commissioner was also felicitated by the university. A booklet prepared by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment was also released during the seminar.
