Chandigarh, April 25

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) praised the decision of the Cabinet to approve the 'Rangla Punjab Vikas Yojana' announced in this year’s budget and thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for it.

Senior party leader and spokesperson Neel Garg said that the Mann government is always known for taking decisions in the interest of the people, as the politics of the Aam Aadmi Party centers around the common people. The decision taken in yesterday’s Cabinet meeting to allocate a special fund of ₹585 crore for implementing the "Rangla Punjab Vikas Yojana" is a fresh example of this commitment. Under this scheme, all 117 Assembly constituencies will be allocated ₹5 crore each.

He said that this is the first scheme of its kind in India’s political history, where funds will not only be utilized under the discretion of MLAs but also through the participation of social organizations, citizen groups, and eminent individuals of the constituency to determine where and how the funds will be used. This is an unprecedented decision in the political history of India. This decision will accelerate Punjab’s development and also strengthen the democratic system.

Neel Garg questioned opposition parties, especially Congress and BJP, stating that they often accuse the Aam Aadmi Party of being a party for the elite and not for the common people. He asked them if, in the states where they are in power, they have implemented any such scheme where development works are decided by the common people and social organizations.

He further stated that only the Aam Aadmi Party can take such decisions, and the sole reason for this is that at the core of AAP's politics are the common people. That is why such a scheme could be implemented in Punjab under the AAP government.
