Two terrorists were killed while a civilian and two soldiers were injured in the ongoing gunfight between the security forces and holed-up militants in Sopore town of J&K’s Baramulla district on Friday. Security forces, including the local police, Army and the CRPF started a cordon and search operation in the Nowpora locality of Sopore town on Thursday after receiving information about the presence of terrorists there.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials are questioning five district collectors of Tamil Nadu in a case related to illegal sand mining. The district collectors of Vellore, Tiruchirappalli, Karur, Thanjavur and Ariyalur are being questioned at the ED office in Chennai.

In a suspected gang war and fight for supremacy inside the prison, two groups of inmates clashed inside Tihar’s jail number 3, an official said on Thursday, adding that four inmates sustained injuries. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning and police have also registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC in connection with the incident.

An ice cream vendor was stabbed to death by a man near the highly secured India Gate late on Wednesday, police said. The deceased is identified as 25-year-old Prabhakar, a native of Etawah in Uttar Pradesh. The officials said that they nabbed the accused on Thursday morning, and police teams are interrogating him.

The body of a man was found hanging with an iron grill at an under-construction flyover in west Delhi, police said on Wednesday, adding that prime facie it seems a case of suicide, however, a probe has been initiated. According to police, the body hanging with an iron grill at an under-construction flyover in the Moti Nagar area was noticed by a passerby who informed police following which a police team rushed to the spot.

An encounter started on Wednesday between the security forces and terrorists in J&K’s Bandipora district. Police said that the gunfight erupted in the Ranji forest area of the district. Reports said that the hiding terrorists fired at the security forces triggering firing exchanges which are now going on.

An FIR has been lodged against Raj Kumar Sangwan, the BJP-RLD alliance candidate from Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat, for alleged violation of the model code of conduct, police said on Tuesday. "Sangwan conducted a roadshow without permission on Saturday, with more than 100 cars and tractors involved, blaring loud DJ music in the Kherka area of Baghpat," said Rajeev Singh Chauhan, SHO of Khekra police station.

An alleged member of the infamous Gogi gang was shot dead while another sustained injuries after four unidentified men opened fire on them at Dayal market in the outskirts of Delhi on Monday, police said, adding that they are probing the incident with all angles including intergang rivalry. The deceased was identified as Narender a.k.a Dhilu while the injured identified as Tarun a.k.a Chhola, who received three gunshot wounds, is undergoing treatment at SRHC hospital, officials said. Both are residents of Alipur area in Outer North district.

Six people, including a juvenile, who were absconding after abducting and killing a 14-year-old boy, were nabbed from their hideout in Delhi after a massive hunt, police said on Friday. The accused were identified as Ayush a.k.a Bhanja (19), a resident of Rohini, Siwansh a.k.a Shiva (19), a resident of Narela, Mohit a.k.a Lala, 21, a resident of Bankner and a 17-year-old boy. Their arrest came days after a 14-year-old boy, Vishal, a resident of Narela, was found dead on the outskirts of Delhi.
