Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President Aman Arora and Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema paid tribute to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar on his death anniversary.

On Friday, both AAP leaders offered floral tributes at the statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar in Nabha. On this occasion, Aman Arora said that Babasaheb Ambedkar, through the Constitution, gave fundamental rights and other legal entitlements to the people of this country. He highlighted that today, individuals from ordinary families have been able to rise to positions such as ministers, legislators, MPs, chief ministers, prime ministers, and other constitutional posts only because of the Constitution created by Babasaheb Ambedkar.

In a major breakthrough by the Amritsar police, three persons were arrested during the blockade and 5 kg of heroin, a 32 bore revolver and 5 cartridges were recovered from them.

FIR in Ajnala police station. A case has been registered and two absconding suspects are being hunted. Further investigation is on to identify other persons involved and dismantle the trafficking network.

Punjab Police is committed in its resolve to eradicate drug trafficking and make Punjab safe.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday exhorted the people to follow the high ideals of secularism, humanism and spirit of sacrifice as preached and practiced by ‘Hind Di Chaadar’ - the Ninth Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji.
In his message on the occasion of Shaheedi Divas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, the Chief Minister said that Guru ji laid down his life to protect the right of freedom to worship and preserve human and secular values. He said that Guru ji’s supreme sacrifice was unique and un-paralleled in the history of mankind and symbolized the crusade against tyranny and oppression. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the ninth guru of Sikhs sacrificed his life for the sake of preserving human rights in the country.

Thanks to CM, After 77 years of freedom Balluana gets first Government Degree College

After 77 years of freedom Balluana- a Rural assembly segment of Fazilka district on Thursday got first government college as Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann dedicated the Government Degree College Sukhchain to give a major boost to the education sector in the region.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister bemoaned that none of the previous governments thought of constructing such institutions in the region. He said that this college has been established after 77 years of independence and is aimed at giving an impetus to the education sector for welfare of students especially girls. Bhagwant Singh Mann envisioned that this will help in overcoming the scarcity of education in this rural area of the state.

Taking a jibe at the Akali leaders, the Chief Minister said that despite of tall lip service these leaders failed to deliver anything tangible to the people. He said that due to such misdeeds only the Akali leaders are now facing public wrath adding that in a democracy the power of a common man is supreme. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that people have the grit and courage to decide the fate of twenty years in just twenty minutes.

Three drug smugglers arrested with 5 kg heroin in Punjab

Three drug smugglers have been arrested with 5 kg heroin from Punjab, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said here on Thursday.

Those arrested have been identified as Husanpreet Singh, a resident of Amritsar, Karandeep Singha, alias Manna, and Maninder Singh, both residents of Attari Mandi in Amritsar.

Apart from recovering heroin, police teams have also seized drug money and impounded the accused's two-wheelers, which they were riding.

DGP Yadav said a team of Punjab Police's Counter Intelligence (CI) Amritsar has received a tip-off that accused Karandeep Singh and Maninder Singh were indulged in the smuggling of heroin and recently retrieved a huge consignment of heroin by Pakistan smugglers that was to be supplied to drug smuggler Husanpreet Singh.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday envisioned that the state of the art ‘Nishaan-e-Inquilaab’ plaza will ever inspire the youngsters for selfless service to the nation by perpetuating the life and philosophy of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh.

Addressing the gathering after dedicating the plaza to people which houses 30 feet high bronze statue of iconic martyr on Airport road, the Chief Minister said that this legendary martyr should not only be remembered only on his martyrdom day (March 23) or birthday (September 28) but he said that the iconic martyr should be remembered every moment. He said that this plaza, constructed at a cost of Rs 5 crore, will ever inspire our younger generations to follow the footsteps of the great martyr and serve the country zealously. Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed hope that this plaza will act as a lighthouse for the visitors coming from within the country and abroad by apprising them about the role of this legendary martyr.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday patted the Punjab Police for foiling a deep rooted conspiracy to defame Punjab by vigilantly preventing an attack on Akali leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal at Amritsar.

Interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of dedication of ‘Nishan-e-Inquilaab” plaza here today, the Chief Minister condemned the attack in the strongest terms and said that there is no place for such dastardly acts at a sacred place like Sri Harmandir Sahib. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government had already deployed around 175 cops apart from the senior officers to prevent any untoward incident. He said that this produced the desired result as a conspiracy to bring bad name to the state was foiled by the Punjab Police who was keeping an eagle eye around Sri Harmandir Sahib.
