The IKGPTU Intercollege Football Tournament was inaugurated today at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College (BBSBEC), Fatehgarh Sahib. The prestigious event has brought together 14 teams from colleges affiliated with IKG Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) to compete over three days, from the 8th to the 10th of October, 2024. Dr. Manish Gogna, Director of Sports, Gurmeet Singh Tohra, and Rajandeep Kaur, are part of the Organizing Committee. The inaugural ceremony was marked by the enthusiasm and participation of various teams and dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lakhvir Singh, Principal of BBSBEC, welcomed all the participating teams and extended his heartfelt appreciation to the organizing committee for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the successful arrangement of the tournament. He emphasized the importance of sports in shaping the overall development of students and encouraged everyone to perform with sportsmanship. The event also witnessed the presence of Deans, Heads of various departments, and senior faculty members, who came together to support and celebrate this grand sporting occasion. The tournament promises to offer three exciting days of football as teams vie for the coveted championship title.

Sc Agriculture Hons. Sem III,V, M.Sc Horticulture Sem I , M.Sc. Zoology Sem In B Tech sem I, Btech sem III  students.
Dr. Arshdeep Singh, Mr. Ravinder Singh and Miss Shivangi Sood, Coordinator of the event, faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Faculty of Engineering Technology were present. The motive of the Event was to enlighten the students about Anti-ragging.

Punjab's Anti-Gangster Task Force foils dacoity, arrests four

Striking a big blow to organised crime in the state, the Punjab Police's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in a joint operation with Bathinda police, foiled a possible dacoity with the arrest of Jaspreet Singh, alias Jassa, a kingpin of Jassa Burj Gang, along with his three associates, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on Saturday.

Four .32 bore pistols and 11 cartridges were recovered from their possession. Three arrested accomplices have been identified as Karanveer Singh, alias Karni, of Gulabgarh village, Resham Singh of Chatha village, and Hardeep Singh, alias Aarshi, of Sekhu village.

All have criminal history and were involved in crimes, including arms supply, snatching, kidnapping and other crimes.

DGP Yadav said that acting on a tip-off, teams from the AGTF, under the overall supervision of ADGP Promod Ban, and the Bathinda police intercepted and apprehended the accused from the Ring Road in Bathinda and recovered weapons along with ammunition from their possession.

Panchayat Elections-1604 nominations for Sarpanches and 4718 for Panches

For 429 panchayats in the district, 1604 nominations have been filed for sarpanches and 4718 for panches regarding panchayat elections. Sharing this information, Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Sona Thind, said that there are 98 panchayats in Sirhind block, 78 in Basi Pathana, 95 in Amloh, 72 in Khamano, and 86 in Khera block.Till October 4, 2024, which was the last date for the nominations, 387 nominations for sarpanches and 1215 for panches have been filed in Block Sirhind. 256 nominations for sarpanches and 723 for panches in Bassi Pathana, 382 for sarpanches and 1104 for panches in block Amloh, 255 for sarpanches and 776 for panches in block Khamano, and 324 for sarpanches and 900 for panches in block Khera.The last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 7, 2024, till 3:00 PM.

Dreaded Gangster Jaspreet Singh Jassa arrested with 3 associates, arms recovered

In a big blow to Organised Crime in Punjab, Anti Gangster Task Force (#AGTF) in a joint-operation with Bathinda Police has apprehended Jaspreet Singh @ Jassa, Kingpin of Jassa Burj Gang along with 3 associates. This was disclosed by DGP Gaurav Yadav in a tweet. He said that these persons were involved in arms smuggling, snatching & kidnapping.

Previously 11 FIRs of heinous crime were registered against Jaspreet Singh @ Jassa.

4 Pistols (32 Bore) with magazines & 11 live cartridges have been recovered from them.
